Who We Are

The Mantua Powelton Alliance is managed by a board representing five community stakeholders: 1) Mantua Civic Association, 2) Powelton Village Civic Association, 3) Mount Vernon Manor CDC, 4) HopePHL (known formerly as People’s Emergency Center), and 5) the Offices of the Third District Councilperson of the City of Philadelphia. MPA is party to a 15-year community benefits agreement (CBA) with Brandywine Realty Trust through which Brandywine provides annual contributions into a Community Fund managed by MPA.

MPA’s overall goals are to facilitate affordable housing; reduce resident housing displacement; address home safety issues; cultivate local leadership & civic participation; and support local educators.

Funding Opportunities

Community Projects Fund

An annual award to support strategic projects and increasing capacity for community serving organizations in the Mantua and Powelton Village neighborhoods of West Philadelphia.

Maximum Award: $50,000

Capacity Building

Funds are intended to be utilized by Civic Associations for regularly occurring equipment and infrastructure needs, and for outreach and engagement activities.

Maximum Award: $5,000

Education Grant

Grants for teachers to support small projects and resources that enhance teaching and learning in Powelton and Mantua area schools.

Maximum Award: $1,000
